PLAY THERAPY CONFERENCEJoin the world's largest gathering of Play Therapists!
By attending the 2008 APT Conference, attending counselors, psychologists, social workers, marriage and family therapists, and other mental health professionals within and outside of the United States will be able to:
1) Appreciate the variety and diversity of the field of play therapy.
2) Earn continuing education credit for licensure and/or credentialing purposes.
3) Learn more about play therapy research, theories, and techniques, and how play can help them to better communicate with and treat developmentally appropriate clients, particularly children.
4) Learn more about and purchase new play therapy books and videos, toys and games, and other products and services from exhibitors.
5) Attend and/or participate in special APT receptions and forums.
6) Laugh, play, and share vital information and ideas with play therapy authors, presenters, professional peers, leadership and staff, and thereby strengthen the play therapy community.

MAY IS MENTAL HEALTH MONTH - TV SERIES
In a unque mini-series, KNXT (Ch. 49) "Forum for a Better Understanding" kicks off Mental Health Month (May) with three consecutive segments entitled "Faith & Mental Health."
Faith & Mental Health Part 1: Are These Two Ministries Compatible?
Pastor Norman Broadbent of First Congregational Church of Fresno, Rev. Saburo Masada (retired) of the Presbyterian Church, USA, and Helen Siporin, Vice-President of NAMI Fresno, speak about the lived experience of mental illness, explaining how spirituality and membership in a faith community can support individuals and their families in the recovery process. Airs Friday, May 9 at 11:30 a.m.
Faith & Mental Health Part 2: Suicide Prevention - What can Religion Say and Do?
Dr. Scott Ahles, Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, UCSF - Fresno and member of Temple Beth Israel, Imam Seyed Ali Ghazvini, Spiritual Director of the Islamic Cultural Center, and Pastor Tim Schellenberg, Chaplain at St. Agness Hospice, discuss how faith communities can augment suicide prevention efforts; and in the rare, but unfortunate instances of death, deal more compassionately with survivors. Airs Monday, May 12 at 9:30 p.m. and Friday, May 16 a 11:30 a.m.
Faith & Mental Health Part 2: Connecting People and Services
Pastor Bruce McAllister, President of the West Fresno Ministerial Association, Gwendolyn Palmer, President of Mental Health America of the Central VAlley, and Pastor Jonathan A. Villalobos of Bethany Inner City Church of Fresno, address special challenges within communities typically underserved or unable to access mental health services. They explore ways in which faith communities can serve as a compassionate, culturally competent link to mental health services for the unengaged. Airs Monday, May 19 at 9:30 p.m., and Friday May 23 at 11:30 a.m.
